Located on the corner of Peachtree Street and Houston, the Gone With the Wind Museum at Brumby Hall is a museum dedicated to the 1939 film starring Clark Gable and Vivian Leigh. It's one of many stops along Atlanta's Path Through History attraction.
Located in a historic building constructed in 1893, the original function of this site was as a boarding house for mill workers. During the 1930s, it served as the first location of Gone With the Wind author Margaret Mitchell's apartment.
In 1986, a group of private citizens banded together to create a museum in this location. They joined with the City of Atlanta and the State of Georgia to have it open on December 15th, 1988. In 1989, they received state approval to begin selling Gone With The Wind souvenirs, which continues today.
The exhibits on display highlight Margaret Mitchell's life and career, including a piece of one of the original sets from the movie version. There are also a number of items donated by Vivien Leigh, who played Scarlett O'Hara in the 1939 film production. In 2003, this museum was designated as Georgia's Official State Film Location for its connection to Gone With The Wind, bringing it to the attention of fans all over the world.
