Cochran Shoals Trail

The Cochran Shoals Trail is a beautiful, 5.5-mile hike that takes visitors along the banks of the Chattahoochee River. The trail offers stunning views of the river and wildlife, and even offers opportunities for canoers. The trail is known for being well-maintained and easy to navigate.

The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA) manages the Cochran Shoals Trail. It was first opened to the public in 1987 after volunteers worked hard to restore trails that were damaged by floods. The CRNRA is a part of the National Park Service and was created in 1978 to protect the Chattahoochee River.

Today, the Cochran Shoals Trail is one of the most popular trails in the area, and it's easy to see why. Whether visitors are looking for a peaceful walk in nature or an intense workout that includes climbing hills, the trail has something for everyone.

Outdoor enthusiasts looking to get more active can also enjoy canoeing along the river. There are only a few light rapids, making it good for beginners who want to try out their new canoe before visiting other parts of the Chattahoochee River with more intense waters.

The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area has something for everyone to enjoy. With several waterfalls, the river itself, trails through forested areas, historical sites and more, the Cochran Shoals Trail is just one of many adventures to be had in this beautiful park. The trail is open from dawn to dusk, from 7am to 10pm, and there is no admission fee. Pets are allowed on leashes, but please be sure to clean up after them. To get to the park, take I-75 South to exit 235 and follow the signs. Parking is available at the trailhead.
