At The Homestar Group, we pride ourselves on restoring homes after fire damage. Recently, we completed a project for a homeowner and tackled fire damage cleaning and contents cleaning in Atlanta, GA. The fire had affected the basement, bathroom, and kitchen, damaging structural materials, furniture, and personal belongings.

Initial Assessment

We started with a thorough assessment of the fire damage. We inspected the basement, bathroom, and kitchen to understand the extent of the damage. We documented everything and discussed our plan with the homeowner.

CLEANING

Step-by-Step Process

Here is the step-by-step process we followed to restore the homeowner's property. Our well-planned approach made sure that every aspect of the fire damage was handled:

Securing the Property

We secured the property to prevent any further damage. We boarded up windows and doors where necessary and made sure the structure was safe for our team to work in.

Water Removal and Drying

Since the firefighting efforts had left water behind, we used pumps and industrial fans to remove water and dry the affected areas. This step was important to prevent mold growth.

Soot and Smoke Removal

We used specialized equipment to remove soot and smoke from the walls, ceilings, and other surfaces. This included:

  • HEPA Vacuums: High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) vacuums are very important for capturing fine soot particles that can linger on surfaces. We used HEPA vacuums to clean walls, ceilings, and floors, making sure that all soot was successfully removed.
  • Air Scrubbers: Air scrubbers helped us clean the air by filtering out smoke particles and other contaminants. We installed air scrubbers throughout the affected areas to continuously purify the air during the cleaning process.

Cleaning and Sanitizing

We cleaned and sanitized all affected areas. This involved scrubbing and disinfecting surfaces to remove any lingering smells and contaminants. We paid special attention to the kitchen and bathroom, making sure they were safe.

Contents Cleaning

We carefully cleaned and restored the homeowner's personal belongings, including furniture and other items. We used ultrasonic cleaning for delicate items and thorough hand cleaning for larger pieces.

Structural Repairs

We then repaired the structural damage. This included replacing damaged drywall, insulation, and other materials. We also repainted walls and replaced damaged flooring to restore the home to its original condition.

Final Inspection and Approval

Finally, we did a detailed inspection to make sure everything was cleaned and restored properly. We walked through the property with the homeowner, making sure they were satisfied with the results.
